On June 19, 2009, The Business Link hosted the VISTA Support Services Roundtable to expand and target VISTA services appropriately to rural Alberta business incubation initiatives.

In attendance were representatives from the communities of Three Hills, Pincher Creek, Castor, St. Paul, Drayton Valley and Lloydminster.

Break-out discussions focused on the issues and barriers rural communities face through all the phases of a business incubator development project.

This collaborative effort brought forth various issues faced by communities, including:

• access to up-to-date market data
• funding availability
• access to best practices in business plan development
• strategies to choosing the right incubator model
• issues of governance/partnerships
• issues of survivability

VISTA Support Services are currently being expanded to address these issues.
